Biological and Chemical Engineering Overview



At the beginning of the school in 1987, our institute  established the chemical engineering and biochemical engineering deparments, which combined into biological and chemical engineering  institute in 1996, and in 2006 biological and chemical engineering institute was established.

l  First:The institutions For teaching and scientific research and professional settings

The biological and chemical engineering institute has biological engineering, chemical engineering and technology, food science and engineering and applied chemistry four undergraduate majors. Biological and chemical engineering institute now has experiment center  of the  basis of biological and chemical (inorganic and analytical chemistry laboratory, organic chemistry lab, physical and chemical laboratory, analytical testing laboratory, biochemistry laboratory, microbiology laboratory). Chemical engineering experiment center (principles of chemical engineering laboratory, chemical engineering and technology specialty laboratory, applied chemistry laboratory, chemical process simulation technology laboratory), biological and food engineering technology experiment center (biological engineering laboratory, food science and engineering laboratory, separation technology laboratory) and key laboratory of nanyang industrial microorganisms. The basic biological and chemical experiment center in 2002 passed the provincial basic laboratory assessment acceptance. In addition we also have chemical process, fine chemical, fermentation technology, food technology and the basic five teaching and research section.

l  Second :The Condition of the teachers troop

Biological and chemical engineering institute has 41 full-time teachers, there are 14 people with senior technical titles (eight professors and 6 associate professors, and graduate student degree of 40 people (Dr 7, a PhD candidate in 10 people).

l  Third :Teaching instruments and equipment and experiment

The biological and chemical engineering institute has three experiment center and a key laboratory of nanyang,besides the instruments and equipment for the total value are more than 13 milion. whats more,there are a relatively stable off-campus practice,and practice base, and our students would go to The tianguan company in henan ,the wanxi pharmaceutical company in henan, the PuKang group chemical pharmaceutical factory and other well-known companies to off-campus practice during their study time. These experiment out of school and practice base in the applied talents training played an extremely important role.

l  Fourth:education and science and technology services.

Since 2007, in accordance with the spirit of the school educational reform, and actively promote educational reform, implementation of quality education.According to the applied talents training target,and carry out the teaching contents and curriculum system as the core of education reform practice,court redefined the professional development goals and professional direction,we obtained some achievements.Food Science and Engineering is the national professional pilot of excellent engineers, but also characteristics of the provincial construction professionals.It undertaked university quality construction projects up to 17,there was three people received the honorary title of provincial and four  people received the honor of the provincial cross-century academic backbone and academic technology leaders and so on.

Our college teachers actively engaged in teaching and scientific research in the commitment to complete the task of teaching reform premise,so,in recent years, they completed a total of provinces and municipalities and more than ten projects,more than  teaching and research projects, construction university courses 11,published textbooks monographs and more than 20, in CN journals published more than 150, more than 20 research papers, including the core journals published in more than 90, won 8 national invention patents.

Ø  Biological Engineering

Ø  Chemical  engineering  and  technology

Training  direction this  professional  training  to  master  basic  knowledge  of  the  chemical  engineering  and  technology  with  chemical  production  management,  quality  control,  process  improvement  and  new  product  development  and  the  latest  technology  application  ability,  to  adapt  to  the  chemical  industry  production,  development  and  technological  progress  to  senior  engineering  and  technical  personnel.System  four  years.

 

Main  courses:  analytical  chemistry,  organic  chemistry,  physical  chemistry,  polymer  chemistry  and  physics,  chemical  engineering  principle,  chemical  thermodynamics,  chemical  reaction  engineering,  chemical  equipment,  chemical  technology  and  so  on.

 

Employment  direction:  after  graduation  for  students  in  the  chemical,  oil  refining,  materials,  energy,  light  industry,  medicine,  environmental  protection  and  other  industries,  sectors,  engaged  in  production  management,  quality  control,  process  improvement  and  new  product  development  and  new  technologies,  achievements  and  applications  work.

Ø  Food  science  and  engineering

Training  direction:  the  professional  training  to  master  the  food  science  and  technology,  bio-technology  basics,  with  technical  management,  product  development,  product  quality  control  of  high-level  expertise.  System  four  years.

 

Main  courses:  organic  chemistry,  biochemistry,  analytical  chemistry,  food  processing  and  preservation  principles,  and  application  of  fermentation  technology,  food  machinery,  food  processing  and  Introduction.etc.

 

Employment  direction:  graduates  suitable  for  wine,  flavors  and  fragrances,  and  other  enterprises,  and  research  institutes,  health  and  epidemic  prevention,  food  inspection  and  other  departments  engaged  in  technology  or  management  job.

Ø  APPLIED CHEMISTRY

Training direction: This professional train senior engineering and technical personnel who  master chemistry,basic theory and knowledge of Chemical Engineering,have the ability of production management of fine chemical products,quality control,process improvement,new production development,application of the lastest technological achievement,adapt to the production and development of fine chemical industry,technical progress .professional direction is fine chemical industry.Four years of schooling.

 

Main course: Organic chemistry,physical chemistry, polymer chemistry and physics,chemical principle, fine synthesis unit,the elaboration, overview of fine chemical reaction engineering,chemical engineering equipment ect.

 

Employment direction: Students after graduation can for cosmetics in the fine chemical industry,paint, adhesives,pharmaceutical intermediates, electroplating and surface modification, function, such as new materials, environmental protection ect. They is engaged in opportunity of the production management,quality control, process improvement and new product development and application of new technology, etc.

lSixth:school performance

Department always attached importance to the quality of applied talents, pay attention to the cultivation of students' innovative quality and ability.In mathematical modeling contest in the country, "Challenge Cup" national university student extracurricular academic work competition, the National College English skills competition and other competitions, students have achieved excellent results. In recent years, our departement trains more than 1,000 graduates whose employment rate reached more than 95%,postgraduate admission rate remained at around 20%.Department met with Tian Guan Group Co.
